Let me start by saying this review is long overdue. Hopefully my laziness, and frankly, lack of follow through can put someone else’s fears to rest though, because I am writing this review TWO years after Basement Finish Specialists finished our basement. I am here to tell you that everything still looks, and operates, just the same as the day they left!

The process from start to finish was great. Our basement started out as a concrete slab with a rough in for pluming. So, they were starting literally from scratch. The quote we received from Mark was spot on when all was said and done.

The entire crew that worked on our basement were very polite, hard working, and clearly skilled in their field. I especially loved that they came in and out of our basement window well each day. It made working from home a little easier, not having people trekking in and out of your house all day long.

Doing any type of work on your home can often become a stressful situation, but our experience was easy and smooth having chosen this company. You can just tell Mark (and his crew too) are honest guys. We definitely felt that, and that was our experience the entire time they worked on our basement.

It sounds funny, but we actually have guests compliment the craftsmanship & finishes of our basement all the time, and tell us “you must have hired a great contractor”. Turns out, we did!

My only piece of advice to anyone finishing their basement, is to start planning ahead on certain items that you are able to, and order them as soon as possible. Ask Mark and his team, what are some types of things you can start shopping for (and check in weekly), like, cabinet hardware (once cabinets are ordered & you know the size), light fixtures, maybe even toilets, etc. Obviously, there are certain things you don’t want to buy until you know specific dimensions, like bath vanities, tubs, etc.

I give this advice, because sometimes by the time you are getting close to having these sorts of things installed, just simply due to time, you would only be left to only choose from what’s in stock at your local Home Depot/Lowe’s etc. These days, 2 years post-covid, I am sure it’s even harder to get your hands on items that you might want. The more prepared you are with items that need time to be ordered & shipped from elsewhere or online, the less you have to settle on and the happier you will be in the end. I know this because that is what I did. I checked in often to ask what I could start buying, and I never had to settle. Thus, I have zero regrets!

I highly recommend Basement Finish Specialists, and appreciate the work they did for us. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Mark and his team did an excellent job. We needed our open flex space closed in to convert it into a closed office/guest room so we could covert our existing guest bedroom into a nursery and we could not have been happier with the results. The space looks excellent and they did quick work (only 4 days total to complete the job once all materials were procured – procurement time for materials can obviously vary). The crew always showed up when they said they would, were super accommodating, explained the entire process seamlessly, and were very professional. Would highly recommend this team for any home improvement/remodeling projects!

I cannot recommend Mark, Jeremy and Joseph highly enough – they deserve way more than 5 stars! We had a brand new home with an unfinished basement and they designed and created a full “mother-in-law” apartment for us including 2 full bedrooms plus a “bonus room” (no window so can’t be called a “bedroom”), large rec area, TV room with custom built barn door (leading to unfinished storage room), mechanical room including full size washer and dryer, gas tankless water heater, full bathroom and full kitchen including gas range! Literally the ONLY thing missing is a separate entrance (finances wouldn’t allow that!) and we could not be happier with the result! It is absolutely beautiful and looks like it was done at the same time as the house, so it doesn’t look like an after thought at all. Additionally, we got them to relocate our upstairs washer and dryer and create a powder room where the laundry room was originally, and we also had them build us another custom 9 foot barn door for the master bathroom. These guys went way above and beyond our wildest expectations and I would recommend them all day, every day to anyone interested in having their basement finished!!!

We discussed our project with multiple contractors but felt completely at ease with Mark from the minute we sat down. Our unfinished basement layout created many design challenges. Mark was able to see past these issues and had fantastic ideas on how to best utilize the space while giving us all the features we wanted and staying within our budget.

Mark was great at keeping us informed throughout the entire project. When we decided to make changes he was quick to get us very accurate estimates. The project and my expectations were well managed even when the world was hit with a pandemic in the middle of the project!

The finished product is everything we had wanted and more. We 100% made the correct choice for our contractor and feel he can do the same for you.

Basement Finish Specialists did such a great job! All the crew were friendly and polite. Very professional and always cleaned up before they left for the day. Mark was always helpful, giving suggestions when we needed them. he guided us in obtaining the perfect layout! With all the natural light its hard to believe its a basement! We will be calling Mark for our future projects.

Mark and his team did an amazing job throughout the entire process, from the design phase to the finishing touches. Our basement was a cement pit just months ago, and it’s now a living space that has far exceeded our expectations thanks to Mark and his team. Everything turned out amazing, from the tile floors in the kitchen to the monstrous closet in the bedroom. The bathroom is incredible, and the heated floors do an amazing job of keeping us warm in the mornings. We would highly recommend you give them a call if you’re considering finishing or remodeling any space. It’s been especially helpful to have a brand new, modified space to get everything done now that we’re working and going to school from home. Thank you guys so much!

We shopped around with different companies and were impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail that Mark and his team expressed. Mark handles everything from start to finish. Unlike some of his competitors, Mark deals completely with the permits and inspectors making it that much simpler for our busy lifestyles.

Another perk of this company is that they never walk through the house to get to the basement. They use the egress windows to get in and out and only the final stages, do they enter through the house. With us having dogs this was very convenient and worked well with our lifestyles. Since this company specializes in basements the design team had great ideas on how to maximize the space in our basement. The team was very receptive to the fine details that we wanted in our basement such as surround sound, outlet placement, etc.

I cannot express how pleased we were with the finished product. It turned out better than we could have ever imagined. They took our 800 sqft blank canvas and turned it into an awesome man cave complete with a bedroom, bathroom and large entertaining space. We will continue to use Aurora Basement for all of our basement needs due to their professionalism and expert craftsmanship.

We used Mark, Jeremy and the crew for the first time in 2006 to finish our basement. They did an incredible job and we were completely happy with the finished product. They were meticulous with their work and were always clean and respectful while on site.

15 yrs later (having now moved) we hired them again to complete tile and glass work in a shower we tore out. As you can see, it turned out beautiful.
